Who We Are

Mater Salvatoris For Girls

Called to Greatness

At Stella Maris Stamford, we form young men of intellect, character, and purpose. Through a rigorous academic program rooted in truth and virtue, students are challenged to pursue excellence not only in learning but in the development of their minds and hearts.

Our distinctive narrative-driven approach places each student at the center of his own story, helping him understand his education as both a personal journey and a responsibility to the common good.

We believe true greatness is measured not by accolades but by a life of meaning, excellence, and service. Here, students cultivate intellectual curiosity, moral courage, and a clear sense of purpose, guided by a friendship with Christ that shapes how they see the world and their place within it.

Our mission is to help the genius, the hero, and the saint within each student emerge and flourish. At Stella Maris, education is the formation of the whole person, mind, heart, and spirit, preparing young men to lead with wisdom, serve with compassion, and live with integrity and joy.

Yesterday the Stella Maris community gathered for our Marian Concert in honor of Our Lady, Star of the Sea. Through music, prayer, and devotion, the boys offered something deeper than performance alone: a tribute of love to the Mother who guides us safely toward Christ.

There are truths of the heart that words alone cannot fully express. Singing allows the soul to speak where ordinary language falls short. In every hymn and every voice raised together, there was a sweet “I love you, Mary”.

As the month of Mary continues, may Our Lady continue to guide our school and our families with the same steady light that has guided sailors through dark waters for centuries. In Mary, Christ. Through Christ, to the Father. #catholicschool #stamford #stellamaris #herogenius&saint

Our 2nd graders are counting down the days until their First Holy Communion this Saturday!
There is so much excitement and anticipation as they prepare to receive Jesus for the very first time. Watching them grow in faith and understanding throughout this special journey has been such a beautiful blessing for our Stella Maris family.
We are so proud of each one of them and cannot wait to celebrate this unforgettable sacrament together. Please keep our communicants and their families in your prayers during this very special week

On May 8th, Stella Maris came together to celebrate the Feast of the Apparition and Stella Maris & Mater Salvatoris Day with the joy and spirit that make our school a true family. From rosary making and the school-wide Stella and Mater rosary, to friendly competition, water games, and bouncy castles, the day was filled with laughter, friendship, and gratitude to Our Lady.

In honoring Mary under the title Stella Maris, Star of the Sea, we are reminded that she always leads us closer to Christ, guiding us with the tenderness of a mother and the steadiness of a star for sailors at sea.

“Never be afraid of loving the Blessed Virgin too much. You can never love her more than Jesus did.” — Saint Maximilian Kolbe

At Stella Maris, boys learn to compete with courage, discipline, and heart. Every practice and every match calls them to push harder, fight for one another, and never back down from a challenge.

On the field, they are not only building a team, but forming the habits of strong and virtuous young men. #catholicschool #stamford #ct #schoolofvirtue

Yesterday, the families of Stella Maris and Mater came together for a beautiful romería, walking side by side in honor of Our Lady. What could have been a simple gathering became something deeper: a shared act of faith, tradition, and unity that bound our community more closely together.

In this month dedicated to Mary, we are reminded that the family that prays together remains together. Under her maternal gaze, we rediscover the strength that comes from lifting our hearts to God as one, trusting that she always leads us to her Son.

Children, parents, and teachers alike walked with intention, offering prayers, songs, and small sacrifices along the way. It was a quiet but powerful witness that faith is not lived alone, but within the life of the family and the wider community.

May this month of Mary continue to draw our families closer to her, and through her, closer to Christ. #Stellamaris #catholicschool #stamford

Yesterday, our 7th and 8th graders stepped aboard the USS Intrepid (CV-11), a ship that once carried ordinary men into extraordinary circumstances during World War II and beyond. Walking its decks, the boys were confronted with a quiet but demanding question: what makes a man worthy of such a place? Not talent alone, nor strength, but the willingness to give oneself fully when duty calls.

Standing beneath the Space Shuttle Enterprise, their gaze was lifted higher still. Man’s desire to explore the skies and reach into space is not merely about discovery, but about a deeper longing inscribed in his nature, the desire to transcend himself. Yet the true ascent is not only outward, but inward and upward, toward truth, virtue, and ultimately God. In that sense, the lesson of the day was simple and demanding: the same discipline that carries a man across oceans or into space is the discipline required to become a hero in daily life. And in the end, it is fidelity to duty, lived with faith and offered to God, that leads man toward its true purpose: holiness, and the quiet making of a hero for Christ.

Last weekend, our 4th through 8th grade Mountaineers stepped into the outdoors ready to be challenged, to grow, and to rise. Through long hikes, moments of prayer, spirited competition, and time around the fire, they strengthened not only their bodies, but their character and their faith.

In the quiet of the mountains and the strength of brotherhood, they were reminded that greatness is not given, it is forged. These are the moments that shape young boys into men of courage, conviction, and purpose.

“Aim at Heaven and you will get earth thrown in. Aim at earth and you get neither.” – C. S. Lewis. #catholicschool #stamford #stellamaris #schoolofvirtue #ct

At Stella Maris, each year is thoughtfully centered on the formation of a particular virtue. In fourth grade, that virtue is conviviality.

Conviviality is the art of living in communion with others, rooted in charity, generosity, and the joyful gift of self. Throughout the year, our fourth grade boys are guided to grow in this virtue, learning that true friendship and fellowship are reflections of the love to which we are all called.

A special part of this formation takes place through our Taste Star Program. Under the guidance of wonderful Chef Marchetti at @columbusparktrattoria in Stamford, CT, they learned to prepare pasta family style, to set the table with care and intention, and to gather in conversation marked by respect and joy, a true experience of pure conviviality at its bests. Thank you @columbusparktrattoria 💙
